Roger Marshall was born in 1960. He is running to succeed retiring Senator Pat Roberts in the race for Kansas’ Senate seat.

Roger Marshall is currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Kansas’ 1st congressional district. Rep. Marshall was first elected in 2016, after defeating incumbent Rep. Tim Huelskamp in the Republican primary. He was reelected in 2018. Rep. Marshall is currently the dean of Kansas’ U.S. House of Representatives delegation.

Prior to entering Congress, Marshall practiced medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kansas and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Rep. Marshall has also served seven years in the U.S. Army Reserve, reaching the rank of Captain.  

The Republican primary in Kansas was scheduled on August 4, 2020. Marshall won the primary election with 40.3% of the vote.

Below is Roger Marshall’s record and public positions on issues important to the Jewish community.

Rep. Marshall opposed the nuclear agreement with Iran and he applauded President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the deal. He said that sanctions relief “allowed the regime to recover economically but their intention to buy time and continue to develop nuclear weapons has remained the same.”

Rep. Marshall opposes the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that singularly targets Israel. He cosponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, a legislation that refutes and seeks to actively combat BDS. He cosponsored H. Res. 246 that opposed the delegitimization of Israel and the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel.

Rep. Marshall voted for the bipartisan House Resolution 11 that objected the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which claimed that Israel’s settlements have no legal validity. He supported the decision of the Trump administration to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

Congressman Marshall has cosponsored the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act, a legislation that supports full funding of security assistance to Israel as outlined in the 2016 U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding.
