Kyrsten Sinema was born in 1976 and currently serves as the senior United States Senator for Arizona. Senator Sinema was elected in 2018 and her seat is up for election in 2024.
Sinema worked as a social worker, before starting her political career as an activist affiliated with the Green Party. After joining the Democratic Party, she was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2004 and the Arizona Senate in 2010. Sinema was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and was reelected in 2014 and 2016.
Senator Sinema currently serves on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee; Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee; Veterans’ Affairs Committee; and the Special Committee on Aging.

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Sinema cosponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act and the Combating BDS Act of 2017, two bills that aim to fight discriminatory boycotts that target Israel. She cosponsored the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act, a legislation that supported full funding of security assistance to Israel as outlined in the 2016 U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding. She opposed the Iran nuclear deal and has cosponsored legislation that object UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which claims that Israel’s settlements have no legal validity.
Senator Sinema has supported funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system and supports the two-state solution. In 2019, as a Senator, she voted for the Strengthening America’s Middle East Security Act which, among other things, strengthened Israel’s security and allowed a state or local government to adopt measures to divest its assets from entities that boycott Israel.
In June 2019, Senator Sinema cosponsored the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, which aims to provide for the consideration of a definition of anti-Semitism for the enforcement of Federal antidiscrimination laws concerning education programs or activities.
