Jo Rae Perkins was born in 1956. She is challenging Senator Jeff Merkley in the race for Oregon’s Senate seat.

Jo Rae Perkins is a perennial candidate for elected office. She served as the Chairwoman of the Linn County, Oregon Republican party. Perkins previously worked as a financial advisor and as a saleswoman at an investment company.

Perkins ran unsuccessful campaigns for Albany city council in 1994 and Albany mayor in 2010. She also ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in 2014. In 2016 and 2018, Perkins ran unsuccessfully to represent Oregon’s 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Republican primary in Oregon took place on May 19, 2020. Perkins won the primary with 49.9% of the vote.

Perkins has expressed support for the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon – which the Federal Bureau of Investigation has deemed a potential domestic terror threat. Perkins has directly expressed support for the conspiracy theory and exhibited QAnon slogans on social media. She has said that she has been following QAnon messages for years.

In a video posted on Facebook in December 2016, Perkins criticized the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which claimed that Israel’s settlements have no legal validity. Perkins criticized also the decision of the Obama administration to not veto the resolution.
